BAR SOS operates a 24/7 Emergency Response Coordination Center based in Uganda. From the moment you start your journey with ASJ, their health and security teams are on standby to respond immediately to any medical emergency, including sudden illness, injury in remote locations, or other unforeseen risks.
The teams evaluates every situation and coordinates the safest, fastest, and most appropriate response, utilizing ground support, telemedicine, and air evacuation as required. Every action is executed with precision, professionalism, and full communication with the guest and their companions.
Air ambulance/ MEDICAL EVACUATION
In life-threatening emergencies, BAR SOS coordinates rapid fixed-wing air evacuation staffed with qualified medical crews. Guests are transported to the most suitable medical facility, with all logistical coordination and approvals managed professionally by BAR SOS.
SOS Garmin Satellite Devices & SOS Safety MOBILE App
We equip all our vehicles with SOS Garmin satellite communication devices, giving you uninterrupted connection to emergency support—even in the most remote and wildest areas.
- SOS alerts go directly to trained BAR SOS personnel and our ASJ team, ready to respond immediately.
- Real-time location tracking ensures your exact position is known at all times, coordinated seamlessly with the tourism police and also allows you to receive security alerts from the emergency teams.
- Two-way communication lets you speak with and hear from the emergency team whenever any situation arises.
Before any journey, guests are briefed on how to use SOS Garmin satellite devices and BAR SOS mobile App.

Note: Personal travel insurance should cover in-patient hospital treatment, which is not included in this package.
Exclusions
Our emergency support package does not include:
- Minor Illnesses or Injuries – Conditions that can be managed locally do not fall under emergency evacuation.
- Pre-Existing Medical Conditions – Known conditions prior to arrival are the responsibility of the guest.
- In-Patient Hospital Treatment – Hospitalization costs must be arranged through personal insurance.
- Helicopter Medical Evacuation – Can be arranged separately at additional cost.
- Reckless or Criminal Activity – Injuries resulting from dangerous behavior or illegal acts are not covered.
- Conflict or War Zones – Emergencies arising from political unrest, active conflict, or war are excluded.
- Extreme Search and Rescue – Missions in extremely remote or inaccessible areas may require separate arrangements.
