Africa Sustainable Journeys (ASJ) is a purpose-driven social enterprise tour company, and a certified Meaningful Travel Impact Partner with Tourism Cares.
We design transformative journeys across Uganda and Rwanda that connect travelers with extraordinary wildlife, vibrant cultures, and inspiring communities while creating meaningful, lasting impact for people, places, and nature.
We believe travel should do more than create memories. It should improve lives, protect ecosystems, and preserve cultural heritage. This belief shapes every experience we design, ensuring that tourism creates real value for local communities while offering travelers authentic and unforgettable journeys.
How Your Trip Creates Impact
When you book with us, 10% of your trip cost automatically flows into our Choose Your Impact fund, supporting community and conservation programs across Uganda and Rwanda. No extra donation required.
During your journey, you will plant a native tree at one of our active restoration sites — a small act that becomes part of a larger story of regrowth. You can also opt into Direct-Benefit Experiences, where what you pay goes straight to the local host, artisan, or cultural group welcoming you. We believe this is one of the most honest ways to travel.
Many travelers want to see the results firsthand. Depending on your itinerary, you may spend time with a cultural troupe, walk a restoration site, or meet community members stewarding these initiatives. Please note that we do not organize school visits; the privacy and well-being of the children we support must come first.
We collaborate with trusted community organizations, conservation partners, and local leaders who are driving change within their communities. Together, we create meaningful connections between travelers and destinations while strengthening initiatives that protect nature, empower communities, and celebrate culture.
