About Africa Sustainable Journeys
Africa Sustainable Journeys (ASJ) is a purpose-driven social enterprise tour company, and a certified Meaningful Travel Impact Partner with Tourism Cares. We design transformative journeys across Uganda and Rwanda that connect travelers with extraordinary wildlife, vibrant cultures, and inspiring communities while creating meaningful, lasting impact for people, places, and nature.
We believe travel should improve lives, protect nature, and preserve cultural heritage. This belief guides every experience we design, ensuring that tourism creates tangible benefits for local communities while offering travelers authentic and unforgettable journeys.
ASJ creates impact through two complementary models. Through our Choose Your Impact initiative, we dedicate 10% of our company earnings to carefully selected community and conservation initiatives across Uganda and Rwanda. Travelers can align their journey with causes they care about, creating a personal connection with the positive change their travel helps support.
For selected Direct-Benefit Experiences, the full experience fee goes directly to the local people, cultural groups, artisans, and community members who deliver these authentic experiences. By creating direct market access for local providers, these experiences generate sustainable livelihoods while supporting the preservation of the region’s rich cultural traditions for future generations.
Our commitment extends beyond communities to the natural environment. Every ASJ traveler plants a native tree during their journey as a symbol of renewal, contributing to habitat restoration, supporting local communities, and helping reduce the environmental impact of travel.
We work alongside trusted community organizations, conservation partners, and local leaders who are creating lasting change on the ground. Through responsible tourism, we help strengthen their initiatives while creating meaningful connections between travelers and the destinations they visit.
