Bunjee Jumping - Jinj Uganda
Which Permits are Required for Tourism in Uganda and Rwnda

Gorilla Trekking Permit: A must-have for gorilla trekking in either Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park or Mgahinga National Park in Uganda, or Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. Permits are strictly limited in number and can be expensive, so be sure to book well in advance.

Tourist Visa: Required for entry into both Uganda and Rwanda for most nationalities.

Other Park Entrance Fees: Depending on the parks you plan to visit in Uganda or Rwanda, you may need to pay additional entrance fees.

Entry requirements can change, so be sure to check with the Ugandan or Rwandan embassy or consulate in your home country for the latest information.

Permits can be booked online through the official channels of the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) for Uganda https://ugandawildlife.org/ or the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) for Rwanda. We can always help with this.

Is there any age ristrictions?

There aren’t general age restrictions on travel to Uganda and Rwanda. However, there are some specific age restrictions for certain activities, particularly those involving wildlife:

  • Gorilla Trekking: The minimum age for gorilla trekking in both Uganda and Rwanda is 15 years old. This is due to safety concerns around the gorillas’ potential reaction to young children and the need for participants to follow specific instructions during the trek. There may be very rare exceptions for exceptionally mature 14-year-olds in Uganda, but this requires special arrangements.

  • Chimpanzee Trekking: Age restrictions for chimpanzee trekking can vary depending on the specific park and regulations. In some cases, the minimum age may be as low as 6 years old, while others may follow the same 15-year-old restriction as gorilla trekking. It’s always best to check with the park authority or tour operator for the specific details.

  • Other Activities: Age restrictions may apply to other activities depending on the physical demands or safety considerations. For example, some hikes may have minimum age requirements, while white-water rafting may require participants to be above a certain age or height.
