This 26-day journey is designed for passionate birders seeking exceptional species diversity across Uganda’s most productive ecosystems. From the papyrus wetlands of Mabamba and Lutembe to the forests of Bwindi, Kibale, Budongo, and Semuliki, the itinerary offers outstanding opportunities to explore Uganda’s remarkable birdlife through canoe excursions, guided walks, boat cruises, and guided drives experiences. Travelers will search for some of Africa’s most sought-after species, including the iconic Shoebill, numerous Guinea-Congo forest specialists, and a rich collection of Albertine Rift endemics found nowhere else on Earth. The journey provides an immersive exploration of Uganda’s diverse habitats while highlighting the importance of bird conservation and community-based stewardship.
Beyond birding, this journey offers meaningful opportunities to engage with local communities and contribute to lasting positive change. In Fort Portal, travelers will work alongside community members to help build a safe home for a single mother raising five children, participate in tree planting around the new home, share traditional meals, and experience authentic village life through a community homestay. By combining world-class birding, conservation awareness, cultural exchange, and hands-on community support, this journey creates meaningful connections and a lasting impact for both visitors and host communities.

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you are met by our professional birding guide and transferred to your hotel. Entebbe sits on the shores of Lake Victoria and offers an excellent introduction to Uganda’s avifauna. Depending on arrival time, casual birding around hotel gardens and nearby shoreline may already produce species such as African Fish Eagle, Pied Kingfisher, Palm-nut Vulture, Orange Weaver, and Ross’s Turaco.
The day is intentionally relaxed to recover from travel while easing into East African birding conditions.
