Supporting Guardian Gorilla Village and Goats for Gorillas
Africa Sustainable Journeys is proud to partner with Guardian Gorilla Village, a community-led initiative focused on protecting endangered mountain gorillas and empowering local communities in Rwanda. Our support extends to the innovative Goats for Gorillas project, which provides a sustainable livelihood solution for reformed poachers’ families.
How it Works
Through the Goats for Gorillas project, visitors to the village donate $25-40 to purchase a goat for a reformed poacher’s family. This initiative has already provided over 98,570 goats to families around the park, promoting food and income security. As families grow their goat herds “from one to twenty,” they become less reliant on harmful activities, reducing the threat to gorillas.
