Overview
This 17-day Rwanda–Uganda Wildlife, Culture & Conservation Odyssey brings together some of East Africa’s most remarkable wildlife experiences with meaningful encounters with local communities and conservation initiatives.
From the vibrant streets of Kigali and the volcanic landscapes of northern Rwanda to the forests of Bwindi and Kibale, the savannahs of Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls National Parks, and the rural communities of central Uganda, this journey is designed for travelers who want to experience more than a conventional safari.
Along the way, you’ll trek to see endangered mountain gorillas, spend time observing chimpanzees through a conservation-focused habituation experience, search for wildlife across Uganda’s national parks, and encounter rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
Just as importantly, you’ll have opportunities to meet local people through community homestays, village visits, cultural exchanges, hands-on cooking, farming experiences and a Batwa community initiative.
Through Africa Sustainable Journeys’ responsible travel model, the journey also contributes to local community and conservation initiatives. 10% of trip proceeds supports ASJ community programs, while Direct-Benefit Experiences provide direct income to the local people who host and share their knowledge with you.
This is a journey where wildlife, culture, community and conservation come together — allowing you to explore East Africa while creating meaningful benefits along the way.
